WEBINAR | India as a global supply chain hub
Trends to watch out, IP issues and challenges
As part of the ongoing support to its members, the Ticino Chamber of commerce and industry (Cc-Ti) has decided to launch 1-hour “Country snapshot” webinars intended to explore in a short and concise manner various topics, such as the opportunities offered by foreign markets – be it for sourcing, manufacturing or distribution and the risks associated as well as selected sectors and other key issues.
This first webinar is dedicated to India: as geopolitics is redrawing supply chains, India is picking up as a manufacturing and logistics hub and emerges as a viable sourcing option to China. The country has the world’s second largest road and rail network and offers new strategic sourcing options and supply chain structures.
India not only provides a rapidly evolving manufacturing infrastructure, but also comes with additional support services around R&D & Engineering Design as part of the supply chain ecosystem. And this can further add value and complement the core competencies carried at the Swiss headquarters, opening new opportunities for cross-border cooperation in various sectors and subsectors (chemicals, pharma/API, aerospace, semiconductors just to name a few).
This said, India does not yet perform well in IPR protection and enforcement, thus remaining challenging in this area. Foreign companies are advised to prepare themselves and seek legal advice. To this extent, a quick overview of the patent system in India will be provided, with a special focus on pharmaceutical products protection.
